SUMMERPRINT 1 is the title of the first print session, which took place in the course of the opening of the new graphicstudio Priebu 18, as well the title of the resulting artist book, which will be presented in the producer gallery Dresden on November 10 2018.

In the period from 25.8. until 2.9.2018, Theo Boettger, Andreas Hildebrandt, Clemens Reinecke, Cornelia Renz and Silvio Zesch met in the recently completed new graphicstudio Priebu 18, in order to inaugurate them with the SUMMERPRINT 1. The aim of the session was from the beginning the teamwork on different various single sheets and on a new artist’s book. The content of the book is kept quite open and as far as the techniques are concerned, the participating artists had at their disposal various high-pressure techniques and silkscreen printing, which were combined with each other. The classic linocut, print with apples and carotts and the printing of other materials, was used and various technical possibilities of screen printing were used. Each of the involved artists created a multicolored single sheet for the book and all together developed in parallel several common sheets, which form the contents of the book. The covers of the books were again treated in a similar way to the single sheets created parallel to the book and thus have a unique character. The book is published by SALZ-Verlag in a limited edition of 20 numbered and signed copies.

Jan Brokof “Tropical Healing”

In his book “Tropical Healing”, Jan Brokof takes us on a journey through the cosmos of his associative and artistic investigations of the differences between the “old” and the “new” world, with which he has been intensively worked since his acquaintance with Brazil. In addition, there are reflections on representations of the stranger at all, on the analogy of capitalism and cannibalism, on formal relations between the depiction of cannibalism from de Bry to the modern Splatter film, and European stereotypes regarding the “tropes” as an ideal and source of danger, like Johannes Schmidt wrote in his text on Jan Brokof’s exhibition “Hans Staden TV” in the Städtische Galerie Dresden 2016.

The artist’s book “Tropical Healing” will be shown for the first time at the exhibition “Tropical Fealing” at the Maurits van de Laar Gallery in Den Haag (Netherlands) from 02.04. Until 30.04.2017.

#09 SALZ Edition

The artist book »IMPRESSUM«, which appears as No. 09 in the SALZ edition, which has been growing steadily since 2011, enriches the book series once again very particularly.Tim Stapel goes in his space-grabbing works often the interplay of (exhibition) space and picture . In his conceptual book he now succeeds in fusing the interaction between content and form into a coherent irritation. He transforms the imprint of the book into typographic patterns, which are both concrete content and abstract form. From paintings of earlier works and exhibition views, the artist collages strictly geometrically arranged quarter circle forms to ornamental script pictures.

The small catalog “TRANSITION” is the second book from   Eckehard Fuchs in the SALZ-Verlag. The book offers an insight into the painting of the past three years of the artist and illustrates the in content and stylistic transitions from, to and between painting, drawing, objects and their arrangement in different exhibitions. A selection of different exhibition views illustrates this aspect. And the catalog itself thus represents a further connection of these areas.

“SEXHEFT” is the third artist’s book by Silvio Zesch which is published this year. In this book, the artist used the technique of lithography, in which he worked many years. However, he uses these only as transformer for his mostly analogously produced and subsequently digitally processed collages. The collages are based on photographs and writing segments from the Internet, various magazines and advertising brochures, which Zesch combines and mixes with his own works. This results in a sequence of partly quite evil, and not infrequently into pornographic images, which however at the same time by the black and white color brings a certain distance to conventional sexmagazines or pornomagazines.
